1. I found the book enjoyable and a fast read!

2. For a Science Fiction novel, the book had a surprisingly large humorous content, which often provided comic relief from an intense story.

3. The book contained valuable information in the areas of technology, current events, and history. Far from wasting my time in mindless fantasies, I found the book educational as well as entertaining.

4. The fantasies, though often complex, were well crafted, logical, and thought provoking.

5. Heaviside makes the book-within-a-book approach work effectively. The underlying theme of suggestive parallelism between fiction and reality makes the inner book’s author dread the possibility that he and his wife are being led involuntarily into a ghastly new life.

6. Heaviside deals with contemporary movies and with well-known literary themes from authors such as George Orwell and Roald Dahl. What is noteworthy is that he often develops rewarding alternative outcomes not entertained in the source material.

7. As fiction, the book deals frankly with the kinds of things most adults think about. But the book is not for those who don’t like such things discussed openly.
