Writing fiction under the pseudonym of Carleton Heaviside, the author is also an engineer and musician. His novel, If I Knew Then: A Nightmare Becomes Reality, achieved recognition as a finalist in the USA Book News Book Award for 2006 in the Fantasy/Science Fiction category.

During his tenure as president for 14 years of a high-tech instrumentation company that developed sophisticated scientific products for deep-space exploration, he became intimate with the technology and corporate affairs that apply to this novel. He has written a draft of a sequel to this novel, and he is currently writing an engineering textbook. His varied writing credits include numerous articles published by a music magazine. He resides in Southern California with his wife.
